FAQ

Q. Do you also sell/ship parts?

A. No. All our instructions are digital downloads only, there is no shipping of any kind.

WE DO NOT SELL ANY PHYSICAL PRODUCTS.

Q. Can I ask you to send me all parts/assembled model?

A. Yes, but I have to charge three times the BrickLink amount (shipping included) to pay fees. Regarding the assembled model: in addition to parts price, I must charge also my time (order bricks, assemble model, packaging & shipping), which is worth almost 50 euros per hour. Shipping costs and taxes (20%) must also be added, with advance payment. If you agree, send me a quote request using the contact form.

Q. What is the XML file used for?

A. This is a text file partslist (duplicated as a TXT file) that you can upload to bricklink.com for quick ordering of your parts.

Q. How can I order needed parts?

A. I suggest using www.bricklink.com. The user Brick Vault has done a nice tutorial on YouTube that covers the entire process, including how to reduce the final part price.

Q. Can I use directly the txt file to order my parts?

A. Yes. You can open the file then select all content and paste into the bricklink input box.

Q. Can I have more techincal info on the XML file?

A: This is the bricklink help page for more info: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=207

Q. Why Bricklink? Do you get any fee?

A. Because there are several brick-buying websites, but I exclusively order from bricklink.com due to their price point, higher diversity of parts to choose from, ease of use and the buyer protection. Sorry, I don't get any fee for your orders on bricklink.

Q. How much do parts cost?

A. Due to continuos price variations, I use the “Buy All” function on bricklink to estimate the cost, then I trim my search finding the most expensive parts and finding alternatives. If you buy all as-is, the pieces for some of my models can cost more than 150€ including shipping.

Q. What is the NXC file used for?

A. The NXC file (Not eXactly C) is a text file containing the program for some robots. Can be compiled and downloaded to NXT brick using BricxCC. You can find a basic tutorial in italian and a tutorial in English

Q. The robot is working but not as expected.

A. A robot is a complicated piece of hardware: small hardware differences in sensor readings or motor positioning can make a great difference. LEGO bricks are flexible and precise positioning is not possible. For this reason, I distribute the source file, so you can trim the values for your specific hardware. But requires some programming experience. Sorry, I can't remotely debug your robot.
