It's hard to believe that we have entered the last quarter of 2025! This year has truly flown by with great speed. Though we have been on a whirlwind of a year, much has happened and changed. The landscape of leadership has been on a constant evolution wheel in this year alone. We have seen the rise of AI in leadership, HR, learning design, and just about in every arena that touches our society. And this trend of the need for AI training and comprehension will only increase as time progresses.
One thing that will not change, though, in HR and leadership overall is the need for human interaction and human intervention. Leaders will still need to be skilled in human relationship management in ways machines will not be capable of handling. As humans we were created to be in relationship with one another, and leaders, I hope, have found that their roles (whether in the workplace, the community, the home, or in business) are still very much relevant and in demand. For women leaders it is so important to grasp this truth now, so that the trends of tomorrow will not cause us to doubt our relevancy as leaders.
The top of 2025 saw the rise in new skill trends for women leaders. This list served as a measuring rod to aid in development planning as the year moved forward and to help women fine tune our focus on what our roles required in this year and in the next. As we look back at these skills to assess our development, let us have honest conversations with ourselves and our trusted network to gauge whether or not the needle moved for us at all. Will there be any skill trends that will carry over into 2026? What will be some of the evergreen leadership skills that are transferrable across the many roles we occupy as women? Let's have this discussion about what we see as relevant skills development and what others are saying will be needed in order to be relevant and effective in the spheres we influence as women.
