Shimakaze and Hinotori are both premium Kintetsu trains, but they solve different trips. Shimakaze is a sightseeing train to Ise-Shima from Osaka, Kyoto or Nagoya. Hinotori is a frequent intercity limited express between Osaka-Namba and Kintetsu-Nagoya.
CHOOSE BY DESTINATION
Choose Shimakaze when Ise, Toba or Kashikojima is the destination and the train itself is part of the day. The official train includes a two-storey cafe car, premium seats and a small number of Japanese- and Western-style private rooms.
Choose Hinotori when the actual trip is Osaka-Nagoya and a quieter, more spacious seat matters more than a sightseeing programme.
SHIMAKAZE FARES AND OPERATING DAYS
The published adult Shimakaze totals to Kashikojima are JPY 5,460 from Osaka-Namba, JPY 6,150 from Kyoto and JPY 5,060 from Kintetsu-Nagoya. Each total combines the basic fare, limited-express charge and Shimakaze surcharge.
A private room adds JPY 1,050 per room and is sold to groups of three or four, subject to the route conditions shown by Kintetsu.
Shimakaze does not run every day on every origin. The official timetable dated 14 March 2026 states that the Osaka service is normally out of service on Tuesdays, the Kyoto service on Wednesdays and the Nagoya service on Thursdays. Confirm the operating date before fixing the rest of the Ise-Shima itinerary.
HINOTORI: STANDARD OR PREMIUM?
For Hinotori, Kintetsu currently publishes an Osaka-Namba-Kintetsu-Nagoya adult total of JPY 4,990 in a standard car or JPY 5,690 in a premium car.
Premium seats have a 130 cm pitch, electric reclining and a leg rest. Standard seats have a 116 cm pitch. Both use a backshell, so reclining does not push into the space behind.

Booking checklist: choose your destination and departure station first, then confirm the operating date and seat availability. Treat the basic fare, limited-express charge and any premium-seat or private-room supplement as separate items when checking a quoted price. If the preferred seat is unavailable, decide whether to change the date or use another service before committing to accommodation.
