From the Worlds of S.E. Smith
I’ve made up stories in my head for as long as I can remember. It was the one place I could escape when life got too hard.
Even as a child, I would lie beneath the stars and wonder what it would feel like to travel to far-off worlds. In my mind, I could see them so clearly—the colors, the people, the danger, the wonder—that they felt almost real. The challenge, and the joy, has always been trying to bring those worlds to life on the page so readers can step into them with me.
My characters have a way of moving in and making themselves comfortable. They live inside me, tugging at my imagination, whispering their stories, and occasionally refusing to behave. I may think I know where a book is going, but once their voices take over, the journey becomes its own discovery.
At the heart of my stories, I believe there is a heroine in all of us: strong, compassionate, maybe a little afraid to step beyond what is safe, but brave enough to take the chance for something—or someone—she believes in. And my heroes? They may be powerful, protective, and stubborn, but the best of them learn that true strength includes tenderness, emotion, and the courage to love deeply.
I write because I love the adventure of it. I love the surprise of discovering new worlds, new characters, and new possibilities. When I’m not writing, I enjoy camping, traveling, spending time with my family, and painting—not especially well, perhaps, but with great enthusiasm.
Thank you for joining me on these journeys. I hope my stories carry you far away, make you smile, touch your heart, and remind you that imagination can take us anywhere.
Hugs,
Susan
