SUBTRX SEQ 01 — Creative MIDI Sequencing

Turn simple ideas into intricate percussion, evolving rhythms and melodic patterns. Optimized for Ableton Live 12, SUBTRX SEQ 01 is an eight-step Max for Live MIDI sequencer with detailed control and a fast path from experimentation to editable MIDI.

Shape every step

Control pitch, pulse count, gate behaviour, velocity, probability, ratchets and delay independently. Combine rests, triggers, repeats and held notes, add swing, and explore Forward, Reverse, Bounce and Random playback.

Discover new patterns

Randomize individual layers or introduce subtle changes with Mutate. Protect your favourite steps with locks, adjust mutation amount and gate density, and undo pattern edits.

Keep it musical

Choose your root note and scale, transpose sequences, and explore Low, Mid and High registers. Organic Timing and Organic Velocity add repeatable variation to playback and export.

Bounce your ideas

Turn your pattern into an editable MIDI clip on a new track with Bounce MIDI, export to an empty Session slot, or save a standard MIDI file. Choose between 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 pattern cycles.

Automate, save and customize

Automate 89 exposed parameters in Live, save your own presets, and recall your sequence and settings with your saved Live Set. Make the interface yours with five colour themes, light and dark modes, three note display styles, adjustable glow, customizable layer order and visibility, and optional tooltips.

Requirements

Requires Max for Live, included in Live Suite or available separately for Live Standard. Use with a Drum Rack, instrument or external MIDI destination to produce sound.

Optimized for Live 12. Compatibility adaptations for Live 10.1.43 and Live 11 are included; testing in those versions is still pending.
