Youâre Not Overreacting â Youâre Overstimulated
Letâs clear something up right now.
Youâre not âtoo emotional.â
Youâre not âoverreacting.â
Youâre not âlosing it.â
Youâre overstimulated.
And honestly? It makes sense.
Because right now, itâs not just your life youâre managing.
Itâs:
⢠The news
⢠The tension in the country
⢠The conversations online
⢠The uncertainty in the world
⢠The emotional energy of everyone around you
And on top of that?
Youâve still got:
⢠responsibilities
⢠relationships
⢠bills
⢠schedules
⢠expectations
⢠and about 47 open tabs in your brain at all times
So no⌠youâre not overreacting.
Youâre OVERLOADED.
What Overstimulation Actually Looks Like
It doesnât always look dramatic.
Sometimes it looks like:
⢠Snapping over something small
⢠Feeling irritated for no clear reason
⢠Walking into a room and forgetting why
⢠Picking up your phone⌠again
⢠Feeling tired but unable to rest
⢠Wanting quiet⌠but not knowing how to get there
Thatâs not a personality problem.
Thatâs a nervous system that hasnât had a break.
Hereâs Where Most Women Get It Wrong
They try to âpush through it.â
More caffeine.
More scrolling.
More distraction.
More pressure to âget it together.â
Thatâs like trying to calm a fire by throwing paper on it.
It doesnât work.
So What Do You Actually Do?
Not a full life overhaul.
Not a 60-minute routine you wonât stick to.
You interrupt the overload in real time.
1. Close the Loop (Even for 60 Seconds)
Right now, your brain is juggling too much.
Pick one thing.
Just one.
And finish it.
Send the email.
Fold the towel.
Clear the counter.
Completion calms your brain.
Chaos feeds overwhelm.
Completion creates control.
2. Breathe Like You Mean It
Not shallow. Not rushed.
Slow it down.
Inhale 4
Hold 4
Exhale 4
Hold 4
Do it 4 times.
Your body will start to settle whether your mind wants to or not. When you take in deep breathes and exhale them, SLOWLY, it's a signal to your body that you are safe and things are okay.
Thatâs the point.
3. Get Out of the Noise â Physically
Not metaphorically. Literally.
Step outside.
Go sit in your car.
Sit on your porch or in your yard (weather permitting of course).
Walk into another room.
Your environment is either calming you⌠or keeping you activated.
Change the input. Change the state.
4. Stop Multitasking Your Life
You donât have too much to do.
You have too much open at once.
Close the mental tabs.
One thing.
Then the next.
Thatâs how regulated people move.
5. Give Your Body One Clear Signal
Right now, your body doesnât feel in control.
So give it something simple:
Drink a full glass of water.
Stretch your arms overhead.
Roll your shoulders back slowly.
Remove your tongue from the roof of your mouth. This is something I never realized I did, but each time I think of it, I do a check-in with myself because I often find that I do have it up in the roof of my mouth, and I am in stressing mode. It's the little things, right?!
Simple signals create safety.
Safety reduces overwhelm.
Especially for the Women Who âHandle Everythingâ
Youâre the one people rely on.
The one who keeps things moving.
The one who figures it out.
The one who doesnât drop the ball.
But hereâs the truth:
Even the strong ones get overstimulated.
And ignoring it doesnât make you stronger.
It just makes you more exhausted. You know, that tired that sleep doesn't seem to help!
Letâs Ground This
You donât need:
⢠a new personality
⢠a perfect routine
⢠or more pressure
You need moments of reset throughout your day.
Tiny ones.
Intentional ones.
The kind that brings you back to yourself.đ
Real Talk
The world might stay loud.
Your life might stay full.
But you donât have to stay in a constant state of âon.â
Sassy Girlfriends know:
Peace isnât passive.
Itâs something you practice â in small, real moments.
Close
So the next time you feel like youâre âdoing too muchâ or âbeing too muchââŚ
Pause.
Youâre not overreacting.
Youâre overstimulated.
And now you know what to do.
If your days feel like this more often than not, itâs time to reset how youâre operating â not just push through harder.
đ Letâs work together.
