🎶 I know a place… I’ll take you there 🎶

For so long, belonging felt like a destination.

Belonging in a relationship.

Belonging in a family.

Belonging in a workplace.

Belonging in a community.

Belonging in a spiritual path.

But belonging isn’t a location.

It’s a relationship.

A relationship with yourself.

So every time I arrived somewhere new hoping to finally feel at home, the feeling eventually slipped away because the place was never the source.

I AM.

No place has to grant it.

No person has to confirm it.

No group has to vote on it.

Belonging is what happens when the seeker stops seeking.

Not because I’ve found the thing.

Because I’ve stopped assuming it was missing.

For years the question was:

“Where do I belong?”

And hidden inside that question was an assumption:

“I do not belong here.”

“I do not belong with myself.”

“I do not belong as I am.”

So the search continued.

More healing.

More growth.

More achievement.

More spirituality.

More becoming.

Not one more self help book. 🙄

But then something shifts.

Awareness.

And I realize:

“I’ve been carrying myself through every chapter of my life.”

“I’ve never actually been abandoned by me.”

“I’ve been here the whole time.”

And in that moment, the search collapses.

Not because life is complete.

Not because questions disappear.

Not because growth ends.

But because the fundamental question has finally been answered.

Not intellectually.

Experientially.

I feel it.

I belong to me.

And once that lands, seeking transforms.

I’m no longer seeking belonging.

I’m exploring life from belonging.

That’s a completely different energy.

The first says:

“Take me somewhere so I can finally be okay.”

The second says:

“I’m already okay enough to be here. Let’s see what life has to show me.”

And I owe myself an apology.

I’ve spent years trying to become someone else so I could belong.

Trying to improve myself into worthiness.

Heal myself into acceptance.

Transform myself into someone easier to love.

When all along…

All of me belonged.

The little girl is invited.

The grieving woman is invited.

The angry woman is invited.

The hopeful woman is invited.

The writer is invited.

The mother is invited.

The dreamer is invited.

The woman who finally belongs to herself is invited.

The moment I stopped arguing with my own existence.

The moment I stopped trying to qualify for a seat at my own table.

The moment I looked at myself….every version, every wound, every triumph, every contradiction and said:

Pull up a chair.

You’re with me.

You belong here.

All of me is coming.

The seeker didn’t find a place.

She realized she was home. 🏮

And I love that for me.

Asé.

And so it is.

For this is well with my soul. ✨
