As soon as it gets cold one of the first meals that come to mind in a classic bowl of savory and hearty chili. A delectable blend of meat, beans, & spices is what makes chili a classic heartwarming stew that one can make to warm their palates during the fall and winter seasons. INGREIDENTS:
- Ground Beef (1 pound)
- Ground Pork (1 pound)
- Onion (1 1/2 cup)
- Green Bell Pepper (1 cup)
- Garlic (4 cloves)
- Rotel tomatoes (14.5 oz)
- Tomato Paste (2 tbsp)
- Beef Broth (3 cups)
- Chili Beans (10 oz)
SEASONINGS
- Chili Powder (1/4 cup)
- Cumin (2 tbsp)
- Garlic Powder (1 tbsp)
- Onion Powder (1 tbsp)
- Oregano (1 tbsp)
- Cajun Seasoning (1 tsp)
- Cayenne Pepper (1 tsp)
- Salt (1 tsp)
- Black Pepper (2 tsp)
- Paprika (2 tsp)
TOPPINGS
- Shredded Cheese
- Green Onion
- Sour Cream
- Corn Chips
DIRECTIONS:
- Prep: Dice onions & bell peppers, and mince garlic.
- In a large pot, brown meat until majority of pink is gone, add onions, bell pepper & sauté for an additional 3 minutes.
- Add all seasonings and garlic and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Add tomato paste and diced tomatoes, stir until combined.
- Add in beef broth and bring to a boil, reduce heat and allow to cook on medium heat for 10 -15 minutes.
- Add chili beans and stir until combined.
- Adjust seasonings to taste.
- Ladle into a bowl and add toppings of choice.
- To make your chili thicker, make a slurry of mix equal parts cornstarch and flour (1 tbs each) stir until fully dissolved. Add to the chili and stir until sauce is thickened.
