Contributing Authors Invitation
A Community Book Project Where Everyday Stories Become a Real Book
Shared Voices is a community book project that brings together a small group of people to share one meaningful story each. Every story is published together in a professionally produced book, with each contributor credited by name.
This is not a writing competition.
This is not a course or workshop.
And you do not need to be a professional writer.
Shared Voices exists for people who want to finish a story, see it in print, and be part of a collective book that reflects real lived experiences.
Who This Is For
You may be a good fit as a contributing author if:
- You have a personal story you’ve been meaning to write
- You’ve never published before, but want to
- You enjoy reflective writing but prefer clear structure
- You like the idea of being part of a group book rather than writing alone
- You value completion more than perfection
This project welcomes first-time writers, quiet storytellers, and experienced authors alike.
What Contributing Authors Do
Each contributing author writes one personal story, based on a shared theme for the book.
- Story length: 600 to 1,200 words
- One story only, not a full memoir
- Clear prompts are provided to guide your writing
- Light editing is done to ensure clarity and consistency
You do not need to promote the book, recruit others, or participate in any public launch.
Your role is simply to write one honest story and submit it by the agreed deadline.
What You Receive as a Contributing Author
Every confirmed contributing author receives:
- Inclusion of your story in the published book
- Your name credited as a contributing author
- One ebook copy of the finished book
- Two printed copies mailed to you
- The option to purchase additional printed copies at cost
You will also be part of a private project group where updates are shared during the creation of the book.
About Enrollment and Timing
Shared Voices runs on a small-group model to ensure quality and care.
- Each book is planned for about 10-20 contributing authors
- A project will proceed once at least 10 participants have signed up
- Enrollment is open on a rolling basis
Important: Payment Timing
There is no payment required at sign-up.
- You first join the waiting list for a specific theme
- Once the minimum number of participants is reached, the project is confirmed
- Only then will you be invited to complete payment and begin writing
This ensures that no one is committed financially until the book is ready to proceed.
Contributor Fee
The contribution fee for confirmed projects is:
SGD $150 per contributing author
This covers editing, formatting, design, publication, and production of both ebook and print copies.
If a Project Does Not Proceed
If a project does not reach the minimum number of participants:
- You will remain on the waiting list
- You may choose to join a future theme instead
- No payment is required unless a project is confirmed
Your interest is always respected, and there is no pressure to continue.
About the Publisher
Shared Voices is curated and published by Hope Publishing.
Hope Publishing was founded by Sam Choo, a publisher focused on helping everyday people turn meaningful moments into finished books. The goal is simple: remove barriers, reduce overwhelm, and make publishing accessible without hype or pressure.
Shared Voices reflects that philosophy. Calm, respectful, and focused on completion.
How to Join
If this feels like something you’d like to be part of, you are welcome to:
- Join the waiting list for upcoming Shared Voices books
- Receive updates when a project is confirmed
- Decide at your own pace when the time comes
There is no obligation, and no expectation beyond your interest.
Every book begins when enough voices come together.
If you have a story you’d like to share, we’d be glad to include you.
