About Me
Hello, I’m Jo — teacher, tutor, choir leader, musical theatre enthusiast, Harry Potter fan and wearer of questionable amounts of funky makeup and crazy glasses… and founder of Snow & Rose Tutoring.
Teaching has always felt like home to me. Both of my parents were teachers, but my own journey through school wasn’t always straightforward. Growing up with undiagnosed ADHD (later diagnosed as an adult) meant I learned early on that children don’t all learn in the same way — and that’s exactly why I became a teacher.
For the past 15 years, I’ve worked as a primary teacher (currently teaching Year 6), supporting children from Reception through to Year 6.
Alongside my classroom experience, I created Snow & Rose Tutoring as a space where creativity could shine even brighter — where learning could be tailored entirely to the child sitting in front of me.
The name Snow & Rose comes from the original Brothers Grimm tale Snow White and Rose Red, and from my own daughters’ middle names. The story celebrates two sisters who loved and supported one another despite being completely different — and that belief sits at the heart of everything I do.
Because children are different.
Some children need movement. Some need structure. Some need humour. Some need quiet encouragement. Some need time. Some need someone to believe in them before they believe in themselves.
My approach is never “one size fits all”.
I build trusted relationships through games, creativity, light-hearted humour, and shaping sessions around children’s interests. I believe in meeting children where they are, making learning memorable, building “sticky learning” that lasts, and helping children feel safe enough to take risks and grow.
And yes… sometimes biscuits help too.
I particularly love supporting children who need confidence building — anxious learners, doubtful learners, and children who may not yet realise just how capable they really are.
There is nothing quite like seeing that moment when something suddenly clicks. The smile. The excitement. The “WAIT… I GET IT NOW!” moment.
That magic never gets old.
Alongside tutoring, I hold:
✨ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

✨ Certificate in Applied Vocal Pedagogy

Outside teaching, you’ll usually find me singing (constantly), baking, listening to audiobooks, watching musicals, acting in amateur dramatic productions, leading choirs, people-watching with a mocha in hand, or spending time with my two daughters — my youngest, who is essentially a fluffy rainbow-fuelled unicorn, and my eldest, a wonderfully punky, quirky teenager.
Two very different humans.
Both completely brilliant.
A little bit like Snow and Rose.
My hope is simple: that children leave sessions feeling comfortable, heard, safe, understood and excited to come back, and that parents leave feeling reassured, hopeful and knowing their child is in caring hands.
Because learning works best when children feel seen.
And every child deserves to feel seen.
