About Me
Hi, I'm Suzanne.
I'm the founder of Solo St. Pete and the woman behind 50 First Solo Dates.
After moving to Florida, I fell in love with exploring St. Pete and the beaches. As a local vacation-rental owner and host, I've also spent time discovering places and experiences I can recommend to my guests—helping them get beyond the obvious tourist stops and create some great vacation memories of their own.
But somewhere along the way, I realized I didn't always need to wait until someone else wanted to come along to keep exploring.
So I started taking myself on solo dates.
Some have been easy. Some have pushed me a little farther outside my comfort zone. Some have gone exactly as planned.
Others involved parking apps that refused to cooperate.
Along the way, I realized there are plenty of other women who want to get out and experience more, too.
Sometimes we just need an idea, a few practical details and a little reassurance that yes, this is a perfectly good place to go by yourself.
I'm not a professional travel writer, and I'm not here to tell you that taking yourself to a museum or eating an ice cream alone is going to transform your life.
I'm simply a local who loves discovering what makes this area special—and the friend who's willing to go first, figure out the parking, try the experience and tell you what it was really like.
Hopefully, that makes it a little easier for you to go create a story of your own.
This isn't another list of "Things to Do in St. Pete."
Every featured experience in this guide is a solo date I've personally taken.
I'll tell you what I loved, what surprised me, what didn't go exactly according to plan—and the practical things I'd want a friend to tell me before I went.
Inside you'll find:
- Where to go and what to expect
- Approximate cost and time needed
- Parking and practical logistics
- How comfortable the experience felt solo
- My firsthand experience and favorite moments
- What I'd do differently
- What to bring and tips before you go
- Ideas for extending the adventure
Because knowing what to do is easy.
Sometimes the harder part is deciding to go.
Six adventures. Six different ways to explore.
🌴 Explore Gulfport After Hours
Wander the market, listen to live music, browse local shops and—if you're anything like me—find something sweet along the way.
🍿 Popcorn & a Movie
One of the easiest ways to test-drive a solo afternoon. A good movie, a bucket of popcorn and absolutely no need to make conversation.
🎨 A Little Surrealism + Scones
Explore The Dalí Museum at your own pace, follow whatever catches your attention and make a stop at Café Gala.
🚋 Tour the City
Let someone else do the driving while you discover St. Pete neighborhoods, history and places you may want to come back and explore.
🌊 When You Can't Get Away, Try a Daycation
A beach chair, a book, something good to eat and nowhere else you need to be. Sometimes you don't actually have to go away to get away.
🚣 Wandering in a Kayak
Ready to turn up the adventure a little? Paddle toward Shell Key on a guided kayak tour and experience another side of St. Pete.
Not ready for the kayak? Start with the movie.
There's no right way to solo date—and there's definitely no requirement to start with the most adventurous one.
