About Me

Alan Christensen is a strategist, educator, and trainer with over twenty years of experience empowering small businesses to achieve sustainable growth. He has led strategic consulting for over 500 companies, from startups to multi-million-dollar firms, across 20 states through his roles as a team leader for NCEG’s National Strategic Research Team and a director in the Utah SBDC network.

He served as a Project Coordinator for the Rural Business Outreach Program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development and was a three-year partner in the Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Program. He has designed business curricula for universities and private groups and serves as a tenured business faculty member at Snow College. With facilitator certification from FranklinCovey and the Kauffman Foundation, and honored with two State Star awards from the National Association of Small Business Development Centers, Alan brings proven expertise to Smarter, Not Louder.

Alan founded Strategy Guidemap to grow businesses and strengthen communities through tailored company training and strategic growth classes, often hosted by partners like economic development agencies. He has trained leaders on leadership, managers on management, and consultants on consulting locally and nationally. Drawing on his wide range of experiences—including founding and operating his own small businesses—he equips thousands for growth through dynamic consulting and training. He guides summit-bound entrepreneurs like you with practical wisdom that accelerates growth.

When he’s not helping others climb their business mountains, Alan enjoys art, hiking, fishing, camping, and—most of all—spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
