David G. Patterson, CPP, PSP

Mr. Patterson has over 30 years of international experience as a corporate safety and security engineer and consultant for Fortune 500 companies, Saudi Arabian Oil, and Governments. He speaks as an expert at seminars and writes books and articles for the ASIS International Physical Security Council, the CPM Group, and the Association of Homeland Security in the areas of security program compliance, risk analysis and management, emergency planning and response, anti-terrorism, security systems integration, safety, workplace violence, and business continuity planning. Mr. Patterson spent 10 years as a consultant to the Industrial Security Department of Saudi Arabian Oil Company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He served as project manager for designing and implementing several integrated security systems for large oil and gas industrial sites, seaports, offshore facilities, airports, schools, hospitals, and building complexes. He has also designed and implemented security systems for several companies in the U.S.A. and California. He specializes in the anticipation, recognition, and prevention of crime committed against companies. He consults with business owners, managers, and law enforcement on how to reduce risks. He is the author of the book “Implementing Physical Protection Systems – A Practical Guide,” which is used as a reference text for the ASIS International’s PSP certification program, the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC) certification examination, and the Security Industries Association’s (SIA) Certification in Security Project Management (CSPM). He also authored a book entitled "Study Guide for the Physical Security Professional Certification Program". One of his most notable accomplishments was the development of course materials, study guides, on-line courses, and classroom course material for the Physical Security Professional (PSP) program for ASIS.
