About Me
After more than 33 years of teaching and in the wake of all the embarrassing YouTube videos of so-called Tai Chi "Masters" getting knocked down by one MMA fighter after another, Master Lap wanted to put down in writing the real combat Tai Chi, to separate fact from fiction and to restore the credibility of Tai Chi as the "Grand Ultimate" in combat martial arts. Master Lap has one rule that he applies to his students. When sparring with students, if they don't seriously try to defend themselves, then he will not teach. He wants a situation as realistic as possible because when his students improve, he too improves. Inspired by the Kung Fu movies of his youth, as a member of the Vietnam Boy Scouts, and having more than 50 years of martial arts experience, Master Lap wants to give back. He is proud to present his combat Tai Chi principles, honoring his teachers before him, especially Master Sing, who passed away in 1994 at the age of 94.
