Hi, I’m Matt Keylock, the detectorist behind TallGuyDigs.

I started sharing my metal-detecting adventures to help beginners enjoy the hobby without feeling overwhelmed by technical jargon, conflicting advice, or the pressure to buy every shiny bit of equipment in sight.

I’m based in West Wales, where I spend my time searching beaches, fields and forgotten corners for coins, buttons, rings, relics and the occasional object that looks ancient but turns out to be part of a tractor.

Through TallGuyDigs, I share honest finds, practical advice, beginner tips and the reality of detecting, including the ring pulls, bottle tops and muddy boots that come before the treasure.

My goal is simple: to help new detectorists start safely, legally and confidently, while respecting the land, its history and the people who allow us to search it.
