Hello kind human, my name is Evan. I started Tangled Ties in the summer of 2024 because I was tired of seeing people struggling around me and feeling helpless to do anything about it. I didn't have a source of income because I wasn't able to get a traditional job at the time, so I thought "what can I do with the skills I have in front of me?". I've always been passionate about sharing my art, so I finally decided to take the step and use my creativity to help other people as much as it helps me. Following that first step, I have become braver than I ever have in the realm of reaching out and making connections with people. I've met talented creatives, and people with similar values, and that fueled the "passion" part of passion project even more. Every one of our individual paths is interwoven with each other, and my main goal has always been to be a part of the trade of creative expression and good intentions in this wonderful, messy, tangled story.
I am a queer artist (non-binary, panromantic), and I'm 18 years of age. I have dabbled in so many different methods of creation, but my current focuses are crochet, mixed media art, and character design. I am inspired by a lot of unexpected things, but if I had to pick my top categories it'd be animation (The Amazing Digital Circus, Arcane, Monster High), music (Origami Angel, and Blood Incantation are some of my faves), and the cycles of existence, taking old decaying concepts and infusing them with life. Which sounds quite dramatic, but really I'm just having fun exploring and experimenting with all the ideas swirling around in my brain.
In my spare time, I am a musician, poet, singer/songwriter, gamer, reader, hyperbole enthusiast, self-sustaining movie quote machine, president of my OC fan club, and professional D&D nerd. And also just nerd in general.
My goal with this project is, simply put, to reach as many people as I can. I have gone through some motivation dry spells in the past few months, but I am determined to keep this project moving in a positive direction, even if the program is just running just in the back of my mind. I'm lucky enough to have the means to uplift the voices of those around me, and I sure as hell am gonna put it to good use.
I'd also love to collaborate with other artists more, so if any creatives reading this are interested, please don't hesitate to reach out!
