About Me

Hi! I'm Laura.

I'm a Massachusetts educator, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and mom with more than 25 years of experience working with children, teens, families, and schools. Throughout my career, I've focused on creating learning experiences that are practical, engaging, and actually stick with kids. I've worked in public schools, provided training and consultation to educators, and even helped develop interactive social skills lessons that are used by schools and families across the country.

I created Teen Rider Academy because of my own son.

When he wanted an e-scooter, my husband and I went looking for a safety course that would teach him how to ride responsibly. We expected to find something like Driver's Ed for e-bikes and e-scooters—but nothing existed. At the same time, I kept seeing more stories about teens getting hurt and hearing concerns from parents who wanted to say "yes" to riding but weren't sure their child was truly ready.

So I decided to build the course I wished had existed for my own family.

Teen Rider Academy is designed specifically for young riders. It covers the rules of the road, helmet safety, riding around cars and pedestrians, weather and road hazards, battery safety, riding with friends, and the everyday decisions that can make the difference between a safe ride and a dangerous one. My goal isn't to scare kids or take away the fun—it's to help them gain the knowledge, judgment, and confidence to ride safely while giving parents greater peace of mind.

I believe e-bikes and e-scooters are giving today's kids something many of us remember from our own childhoods: freedom, independence, and the chance to explore. My hope is that Teen Rider Academy helps them enjoy that freedom safely and responsibly.
