About Me

Hi, I’m Julie Telgenhoff, an independent author and creator of The Body Buddies.

Most of us grow up learning that the heart pumps blood, the lungs help us breathe and the stomach digests food. But how many of us are taught about the lymphatic system, fascia or the cellular waste our bodies must continually clean up?

That question inspired The Body Buddies, a five-part children’s book series that turns the human body into something every child understands: a House.

Inside the Body House, Celly and Shelly represent the cells which are the rooms where the body’s work gets done. Bud (the blood) represents the kitchen, delivering oxygen, water and nutrients throughout the house. Lynn, Patrick and the Lymphettes are the lymphatic cleanup crew from the bathroom, collecting waste and extra fluid to help keep everything clean.

Ms. Fascinista represents fascia and is the stretchy connective web that surrounds, supports and connects every part of the Body House.

Through lovable characters, colorful illustrations and a little bathroom humor, children discover that the body is not simply a collection of separate parts. It is one connected team in which every Body Buddy has an important job.

My hope is that The Body Buddies sparks curiosity and helps children grow up feeling connected to and amazed by the incredible bodies they live in.

Who Inspired The Body Buddies

The Body Buddies grew from years of personal healing, research and a deep desire to understand the parts of the body most of us were never taught about. Along the way, several remarkable teachers influenced how I came to view the body, not as a collection of isolated parts, but as one connected and intelligent terrain.

I am deeply grateful for the teachings of Dr. Sebi, Dr. Robert Morse, Dr. Yah’ki Awakened, Dr. Perry Nickelston, Dr. Caitlin Czezowski, and Deanna Hansen, founder of Block Therapy. Their work shaped my understanding of cellular health, elimination, lymphatic flow, fascia, movement, breath and the body’s natural ability to heal.

Their teachings provided the foundation of knowledge that inspired me, but The Body Buddies is my own creative interpretation. I created the Body House and its lovable characters to give children something I wish all of us had received early in life: a simple understanding of the extraordinary body they live in.
