Sabotaging good things? It’s not failure — it’s fear. Learn how NLP + Shadow Work reveal the survival loop behind self-sabotage and how to shift it.

Self-Sabotage: Why We Sabotage Good Things

Ever pulled away just as things were getting good?

That job. That relationship. That goal.

Then BOOM - resistance flares up like kerosene on a fire 🔥.

You think you're afraid of failure…

But… what if you're more afraid of success and succeeding?

So let’s face this issue and name it for what it is. Don’t label it a weakness, but instead, a survival mechanism. And when this keeps happening, see this as a loop, not a personality trait. Not some inherent flaw.

Self-Sabotage Isn’t Always Obvious

It can sneak in as:

  • Procrastination
  • Picking fights
  • Ghosting goals or relationship
  • Downplaying your excitement right before momentum hits

What we don’t always pick up on, is that this is a protective pattern, the survival mechanism in full force. Why? Well, simple - fear of the unknown. We don’t fear failure as mentioned, we fear success and what it can mean to us and show up as in our life.

Sound Familiar?

  • The person who cancels their therapy session right before a big breakthrough moment
  • The artist who won’t post their work after months of effort, fearing it’s not perfect enough
  • The entrepreneur who gave up because - “what if they laugh at me?”

These are not random. They’re protective patterns trying to keep you safe - even if they’re keeping you small.

The Goal Isn’t To Fight The Sabotage

It’s to meet the version of you that’s scared, and re-wire that fear into something productive. This is not about pushing harder or masking the issue. It’s about becoming more in-tuned, receptive and aligned.
