The Void Between Versions: Why You Feel Lost After A Breakthrough

You finally said nah, no thanks.

You saw how the choices and decisions in your life had played out long enough to know they weren’t beneficial anymore. You kept feeling that pit in your stomach — that unsettled sense that this isn’t it. So? You cut the cord, spoke up, walked away, chose clarity, and stood your ground.

Maybe you're in your 20s and just graduated, moved out, starting fresh.

Maybe you're in your 40s and realizing you've been just living life on auto-pilot, same stuff but different day.

Or you're in your late 60s, and deciding to move on from your marriage, newly retired or encountered a life altering moment.

You know the moment:

You wake up and realize… the job you built your life around no longer excites you. Or the person you’ve become feels like a costume that doesn’t fit anymore. You’re not who you were when you started — but you’re not sure who you’re becoming either.

And then… nothing. It just doesn’t feel how you expected it to — no lightness, no ease, no relief. Just… emptiness.

If you’ve ever felt more lost after a major growth moment, you’re not broken, you're not alone nor the only one. Welcome to the void chapter of your life.

What Is “The Void”?

Welcome to the in-between state. Where the old identity has been released — but the new one hasn’t fully formed. This is where the magic actually happens. This is the “void between versions.”

  • You’ve exited the loop, but haven’t found your rhythm.
  • You don’t resonate with your old choices, but you’re unsure how to make new ones.
  • The noise is gone… but so is the structure, habits and patterns.

The Power Of This In-Between

So here is the up-side of said in-between state…

  • You’re not rushing to prove yourself.
  • You’re not recreating old stories.
  • You’re present with the becoming.

Why It Feels So Unsettling

  • Our nervous systems crave familiarity — even if it’s painful.
  • In the void, you no longer have the feedback loop (good or bad) to reinforce your identity.
  • You feel “ungrounded” because you’re literally re-coding yourself.

Why You Keep Getting Pulled Back

  • Rush to fill the silence. → “Who am I now? I need to figure it out immediately.”
  • Return to the old script. → “Maybe it wasn’t that bad. Maybe I was overreacting.”
  • Try to label everything again too quickly. → “I’m this now. I do this. I’m healed.”

But like I mentioned in the previous post, healing isn’t a job title.

Choose Presence Over Panic

  • Let the void breathe.
  • Instead of asking “Who am I now?” ask “What am I noticing?”
  • Start small: a different choice in your morning routine, how you respond to discomfort, how you treat your body when no one’s watching.

You don’t need to define it — you need to live into it. The void isn’t failure. It’s proof you let go. It’s the space where integration happens. You’re not lost — you’re just not pretending anymore. And that? That’s alignment. Even when it’s messy. Even when it’s quiet.
