Shelane Jenkins writes middle grade mysteries for kids who notice what the rest of the world walks past.

She lived on Kodiak Island in Alaska for almost a year and flew in small planes to remote villages to provide dental care to Alaska Native communities. The people and places she met there became the foundation of The Compass Chronicles.
