About Me

I write the books I wish I'd had when I was struggling with depression.

Back then, I didn't need clever. I needed true. I needed to know who God really is and how much He cares, from someone who didn't flinch at how hard things were and didn't pretend I could fix them by trying harder. So that's what I try to write: stories with real people in them, with plain teaching underneath, both pointed at the same thing.

I publish under The Foolish Gospel, borrowing Paul's line that the foolishness of God is wiser than men.

If you're in a hard season right now, I hope these books feel like a friend sitting with you, not a pep talk. They're not a substitute for good counseling or therapy. I believe in both, and the books say so. But I hope they help you remember that you're seen, that truth is a kinder place to stand than most of us were taught, and that God is nearer and gentler than the voices in your head suggest.
