About Me
I am Shondra Pass and for as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about a multitude of seemingly unconnected things: farming, entrepreneurship, education, health and wellness, and helping people solve their problems. I have a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering & an MBA that I used in various Continuous Improvement roles until I left corporate America after over 10 years to pursue my passion in agriculture. I have now been in agriculture in some capacity for about 3 years, including working full time as a farm apprentice. The Garden Coach is the culmination of all of my seemingly unconnected passions. My business officially started in 2021 as a backyard vegetable farm using one greenhouse and four patio raised garden beds. We initially grew different varieties of vegetables (peppers, tomatoes, okra, cabbage greens, beets, kale, lettuce, broccoli, carrots, callaloo, collard greens, and onions) before evolving and adding medicinal and culinary herbs and flowers (rosemary, parsley, basil, Tulsi holy basil, oregano, thyme, and nasturtium). I have also been able to provide many people, including family & friends, with education, site planning, & plant starts to begin their own garden. I have since expanded, and have been able to provide my community with garden education, planning, and plant starts. I credit my love of agriculture to my great grandparents and all of my ancestors who farmed over the last century.
