What’s stopping you from achieving your financial goals?
Is it a lack of time management? What about self-control around all of your spending? Or is it a lack of motivation?
Bestie, you are the only one who can control what happens to your money.
But you have to take stock of what’s stopping you from getting there.
Do you not budget because you simply don’t know how to or do you just feel like it’s time consuming?
If it’s a lack of knowledge about budgeting, then friend, you’ve come to the right place because you’re going to get that and more so stick around.
If you think budgeting is time-consuming. I’m not going to lie to you. It is.
But I’ve got templates that will help make it easier so you don’t have to figure out what goes where and what information you need to include on your budget sheets.
I mean anything worth doing and doing right is going to eat into some of your time.
Honestly, what takes the most time is getting started — setting up your budget and remembering to make it part of your money routine.
Once you get into the habit of logging your expenses and tracking your money then it will become easier and quicker.
Let me ask you. Do you spend money because you haven’t taken the time to learn better ways of managing it?
So if the answer is yes then again, friend, stick around because we’re going to work on that one.
Or do you blow your money on shopping sprees because you are unhappy? Let’s get to the root of that.
I believe the way we spend money can be directly tied to emotions.
Stick with me here. So you had a bad day and the first thing you do is go shopping on your lunch break. You blow $500 at Nordstrom or _____________ fill in the blank here.
Ask yourself. Why? What sense of gratification does shopping fill for you and what can you do instead?
Here’s what you can do instead of shopping:
✅ Browse the store but leave your cash and credit cards at home or browse items online but don’t purchase them
Why does this work: Studies show window shopping still releases dopamine. Mentally you’ve already gone through the journey of picking the color or size item you want, so the brain releases feelings of happiness even before you click purchase or swipe your card.
✅ Go for a walk or a workout to #1 release some happy endorphins and #2 take your mind off shopping
Why does this work: It converts that goal of control through shopping to a new and exciting behavior — exercise.
✅ Save up for the item
Why does this work: It releases dopamine over time because saving up for the item creates excitement over a period of time. It gives you something to look forward to.
When these tips are not enough and you need more then it’s time to find your why.
What does this look like:
My why is my daughter and actually every woman I encounter. I hustle for my business because I want to show her it can be done.
I want her to know about money and know that it is within her reach. I’m creating generational wealth here.
I also have been where many of you have been and it can be an exhausting, lonely, desperate place and I don’t want that for you. I want you to know financial freedom.
I want you to be able to spend without worry. I want you to have money to create experiences with your family and I want you to have generational wealth.
I want you to find your why while on your financial journey. Now remind yourself as often as you have to in order to keep hitting those goals.
I’m here to remind you that you’ve got it in you.
