Brain Injury Awareness Month: TBI Related CEUs for Speech Language Pathologists

By now you may know that I’m an affiliate for Medbridge Education. But what you may NOT know is that even before becoming an affiliate, I used MedBridge's online CEU collection to learn a lot more about my clinical interests. CEUs are one of the ways that I eventually became “The Neuro SLP”.

In a series of blog posts, I'd like to share some of the CEUs that I have taken and loved. I’ll be arranging them by category and first up is BRAIN INJURY in honor of March being Brain Injury Awareness Month.

Note: An asterisk indicates that I have personally taken the course and it has added value to my day-to day clinical practice.

(10) Recommended BRAIN INJURY CEUs:

·       “Executive Functions after Brain Injury Part 1: Assessment & Intervention” by Mary Kennedy *

·       “Executive Functions after Brain Injury Part 2: Case Studies” by Mary Kennedy *

·       “Treatment of Memory Impairments Post Acquired Brain Injury” by Therese O’Neil Pirozzi

·       “The Functional Manifestation of a Mild TBI” by Patricia K Youngman *

·       “Concussion: Functional Interview” by Matthew Dodson *

·       “Challenges of Communication Reintegration after TBI” by Steven Wheeler

·       “Treatment Strategies to Facilitate Community Re-integration after TBI” by Steven Wheeler

·       “The Role of the SLP in ICU: Acquired Brain Injuries” by Jo Puntil

·       Clinical Considerations in Pediatric TBI: Assessment by Angela Ciccia

That’s it! 10 ONLINE SLP CEUS related to either the assessment or treatment of BRAIN INJURY that I would recommend for SLPs who work with this population. If you end up taking any of these Medbridge CEUs, let me know your thoughts on them in the comments.
