About Me

Hi, I’m Alana — an Occupational Therapist with nearly 10 years of experience across acute hospitals, community rehabilitation, mental health and major adaptations.

I created Quiet Confidence Occupational Therapy because I know what it feels like to doubt yourself on placement. I know what it feels like to overthink every interaction, compare yourself to other students and wonder if you’re “good enough” to become an OT.

The truth is… confidence in healthcare is built, not born.

Throughout my own journey, I went from struggling with confidence during placement to becoming an independent OT, supporting patients across multiple settings and even being offered jobs from placements I once felt nervous in.

I’ve always loved understanding people — not just their physical needs, but their emotions, behaviours, routines, confidence and identity. That’s why this workbook was created differently. It’s not just about theory. It’s about helping you feel calmer, more prepared and more confident when working with real people in real clinical environments.

Inside this workbook, I’ll walk beside you through:

• placement preparation

• functional assessments

• SOAP notes

• MDT communication

• discharge planning

• difficult educator situations

• emotional resilience

• clinical reasoning and confidence building

My goal is simple:

To help healthcare students stop feeling like they’re failing… and start believing they belong here.

You are learning.

You are growing.

And you are becoming the professional you’re meant to be.
