About Me

Hello, and welcome. I'm a Network Architect, cybersecurity professional, and technology enthusiast with a deep-seated passion for understanding how complex systems work. For over two decades, I've been designing, building, and securing the mission-critical networks that power our world.

My journey into technology began with a hands-on foundation, first with a background in computer maintenance in the U.S. Air Force and later formalized with an Associate's Degree in Electronics. My military service took me to places as remote and challenging as Eielson AFB in Alaska, experiences that instilled in me a discipline and problem-solving mindset that I carry to this day. After my time in the service, I lived and worked in Oklahoma City and Tampa before settling down in Leander, Texas, in 2000, which my family and I have called home ever since.

For the past 20 years, I've held one of the technology industry's most demanding and respected certifications, the CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) in Enterprise Architecture. This credential represents the pinnacle of network engineering and is a testament to my long-standing commitment to the field. In my current role as a Network Architect for a Large Texas bank, I'm responsible for the high-level design and security of vital network infrastructure.

The technology landscape is always evolving, and so is my dedication to learning. To better address the challenges of the modern digital world, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity, adding a formal, academic layer to my decades of hands-on security experience.

Today, I find myself fascinated by the intersection of three critical domains:

Network Engineering: The foundational principles of building robust, scalable, and resilient networks.

Cybersecurity: The art and science of defending that infrastructure from ever-present threats.

Crypto: The new frontier of decentralized protocols and the next architectural evolution of the internet.

Through my writing, I aim to deconstruct these complex topics, bridge the gap between traditional enterprise architecture and the emerging world of Web3, and share the insights I've gathered over a long and varied career.

When I'm not designing networks or exploring the latest tech, I enjoy life in Leander with my four children. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me.
