One template isn’t going to magically do your work for you, but it can remove a surprising amount of unnecessary stress and wasted time. If it helps you stay on top of one deadline, stop forgetting one task, or spend less time trying to work out what you should be doing next, it’s already doing its job.

Technically, you could. But that’s exactly the point, making one yourself takes time, figuring out what to include takes effort, and you’ll probably end up changing it ten times before you’re happy with it. These templates/planners are already made to be practical and easy to use, so instead of spending your time organizing your organization, you can just download it and get started.

You might not need it, but it can still make things noticeably easier. The goal isn’t to completely change how you work — it’s to take some of the little things off your mind. Having your tasks, deadlines, plans and priorities in one place can save time, reduce the stress of trying to remember everything, and make it much easier to see what actually needs doing.
