Get to Know Tim Cooke
Originally from England, Tim Cooke has called the United States home since 1989. With a collegiate playing career at the University of Virginia, followed by a master’s degree in pedagogy, Tim’s passion for coaching is rooted in both athletic and academic excellence. His graduate studies in sport psychology, kinesiology, and motor learning laid the foundation for what would become a holistic and highly effective coaching philosophy.
Today, Tim is the Director of Instruction at The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, SC, where he works with golfers of all levels—from juniors and competitive amateurs to collegiate standouts and tour professionals. He also leads the resort’s comprehensive instructional programs, earning a reputation for innovation, insight, and results.
A multiple-time GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teacher in America (2017–2024) and the 2014 Carolinas PGA Teacher of the Year, Tim is one of only a few coaches to hold the title of PGA Master Professional in Instruction. His work with junior golfers has produced over 100 collegiate players, with several going on to earn All-America honors and appear in the WAGR Top 100. He also coaches athletes on the PGA TOUR, PGA Champions, LPGA Tour, and Korn Ferry Tour.
Tim’s thought leadership has been featured in GOLF Magazine, Golf Digest, and Golf Illustrated, making him one of the most respected and sought-after voices in the game today.
