An avid hiker, cyclist and paddler, Ken spent a career planning and designing trails, bikeways and greenways, mostly in Western Washington State. He also lived in the Washington DC area for more than eight years working as a senior outdoor recreation planner. He is the author of five hiking and walking guides (from Washington to Washington) and his newest work, Boots on Fire, a memoir of hiking and mountaineering adventures across North America. Ken and his wife, Kris, are the esteemed guests of Sweetie the Cat in Bellingham WA.
