Noam Shalev is one of Israel's most internationally recognised documentary filmmakers. Born and based in Tel Aviv, he studied at Queens College (B.A., 1989) and Hunter College, City University of New York (M.A., 1991), before returning to Israel to build a career spanning journalism, documentary direction, and authorship.

In 1998 he founded Highlight Films Ltd, Israel's leading international production services company, which has since facilitated hundreds of productions for broadcasters and platforms worldwide. As a director and producer, Noam's documentary work has appeared on National Geographic, BBC, Channel 4 (UK), Netflix, Discovery, Arte, Smithsonian and more.

His films span a wide range of human experience — from a trilogy on news photographers documenting the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, to an unsung hero who saved Jews during the Holocaust, to the rescue organisation ZAKA, and a series following an IDF officers' course. In 2024 he directed 06:29 — From Darkness to Light, a video exhibition of 45 testimonies from women who survived the October 7th massacre, at the Museum of Tolerance in Jerusalem.

In 2022 Noam published his debut novel Land Looking Down. (in Hebrew), and has completed a second novel, TURNOVER in 2026.
