Pumpkin Sourdough Bread For the NOVICE!

Here is my Sourdough Pumpkin Bread for the novice! I hope you enjoy it and bring it to your table this month of November and share a bit of love with your family.

Jamie’s Sourdough Pumpkin Bread

In a large bowl combine

1 cup sugar, tsp orange peel, 2 tsp nutmeg, 1 tsp of cinnamon and, 1 tsp salt

1 can of pumpkin puree and ½ cup of fed sourdough starter

Mix well.

Then add in 2 eggs

½ cup melted butter or ¼ cup EVOO

1 cup milk

Stir

Lastly add in 6 cups of King Arthurs All purpose Flour

mix and knead into a ball on floured surface. Place back in bowl and let ferment aka rise

You can do this as an overnight rise which I recommend or you can bake it after a 6 to 8 hour rise.

Bake at 375F for 60 mins

Let cool for two hours then enjoy..feel free to put a cinnamon stick in the middle for the pumpkin look.

Blessed Allhallowtide! For us catholics this is when we remember the dearly departed. I love making soul cakes to pass out to everyone to remind them to pray for the holy souls. Fall just brings me to remember our ancestors and the people who lived before us! What a tragedy to leave this world and just be totally forgotten about. Let’s keep their memory dear to our hearts and live to tell their tale for all generations to come! Catholic or not I think thats a great opportunity to remember the ones who loved us dearly.

Fall also brings that comforting sweater weather that invites you to have a slower pace and light a beautifully scented candle. Perhaps you get the time to catch up on reading a book that the summer gardening has took from you. Fall brings us ladies into the kitchen even historically as women for years prepared comforting breads and soups this time of year. The family awaits the mother to bring love to the table with nourishing food and conversations full of laughter! No matter where you are in life..married or single..I invite you this fall to at least once a week adorn your kitchen table and make something beautiful. For me thats a cloth tablecloth and cloth napkins. Sounds like work for most but for me it brings my heart and love to the table as it requires more thoughtfulness and laundry. Although I see this opportunity of adornment to create memories for my children that will last a lifetime. I want them to think of fall and remember mom always making the kitchen table one hell of an inviting place to be in. A place to share our day together and laugh about the oddities of the day. A place where we can enjoy great food and awesome company!

Please share and tag me if you make this! I want to see it! Here are my links..
