About Me
Hi, I’m Pete Stevens — a lifelong outdoorsman, fly fisherman, and passionate advocate for getting more people on the water.
I grew up in Idaho, where my childhood was spent fishing, camping, and exploring the outdoors every chance I got. Rivers, lakes, and mountains were my playground, and those early experiences built a deep love for nature and the simple joy of being outside.
When life brought me to Arizona, I discovered fly fishing and instantly fell in love. There’s something magical about the rhythm of casting, reading the water, and matching the hatch that hooked me completely.
I created this beginner’s guide because fly fishing can feel overwhelming with all its gear, techniques, entomology, and terminology. My goal was to take those complex subjects and break them down into clear, easy-to-read chapters that help new anglers succeed right away — without the frustration. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to build confidence on the water, I want this book to give you the practical knowledge and inspiration you need to catch fish, enjoy the process, and start making lasting memories with family and friends.
At the end of the day, it’s not just about catching trout — it’s about spending time in beautiful places, slowing down, and sharing the adventure. I hope this guide helps you fall in love with the sport the same way I did and gets you outside creating your own stories on the river.
