ALL HIS WRITINGS USE THIS FOUNDATIONAL CORE BELIEF...

DOUG MAC's "WHY...."

Doug “Mac” McGehee writes from a place where science meets soul, where grief collides with resilience, and where unanswered questions demand truth.

A graduate of The University of Tulsa with a degree in Psychology, Doug was awarded a music scholarship that paid half his college expenses—a testament to his early talent and discipline.

Yet even in his youth, he carried a shadowed awareness of mortality. Losing an unusual number of family members as a child—including tragic auto accidents and sudden deaths—left him with a life-changing and personal interest in the mysteries of life, loss, and what may lie beyond.

By the time Doug wrote his senior thesis on Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s On Death & Dying, he had already endured more loss than most.

Those early experiences, compounded by personal medical struggles and multiple surgeries during his teen years, created layers of trauma and PTSD that shaped his inner world.

The pain resurfaced with devastating force in 2019 when Doug’s wife, Tracy Lynn, passed away from cancer just four days before Valentine’s Day.

That loss became the breaking point that ignited his lifelong search for answers into consciousness, death, and the afterlife.

A former medical college professor of anatomy and brain science, Doug turned his analytical lens and teaching experience toward the deepest human questions.

He became a certified hypnotherapist, initially to heal his own trauma, and then to guide others in exploring the subconscious and finding relief from grief, PTSD, and stress.

Through this journey, he discovered that writing became not only his therapy but also his mission: to reveal scientific truths often withheld from public view, to explore the “X” unknowns of consciousness, and to share evidence that life continues after death.

Now a best-selling author, speaker, podcast host, and researcher, Doug blends rigorous science with the emotional storytelling his readers crave.

He believes stories don’t just inform—they transform. His books and talks expose hidden truths about the afterlife, shadow work, and the healing powers of science-based therapies, while offering hope to those who have endured life-changing loss.

For Doug, writing is more than a career—it is a calling born of love, loss, and the unshakable conviction that those we call “gone” are not lost at all.

They are still with us, still aware, still home. And through his work, Doug invites his readers to discover that truth for themselves.

In the FALL, 2025 watch for Doug's new "The Shadow Work BIBLE" Book series, guides, workbooks, stories and checklists to give you more Science & his Therapist trainings for Grief Therapy, and custom trainings within over 20 "Shadow Work" areas.
