11 Ways to get moving!

I can personally talk myself out of exercise because I can usually find something else to take its place. Dealing with Fibromyalgia for the last 20 plus years has left my body with little to no muscle tone, herniated discs and the rest that goes with it. Believe me, sitting with a timer is a must for me...every 1/2 hour to 45 min and I get up and move! Did you know that in 5 seconds if you haven't gone up after making that decision to do something like put on your running shoes, that the brain takes over and talks you out of it! Only 5 seconds! Enjoy this fabulous video from Mel Robbins: 5 Second Rule that gives us great insight into the "why's" of it all.

Here are the 11 ways to get up and move:

1. Do some housework, vacuuming, scrubbing and dusting. Headphones!

2. Take a 10-minute brisk walk around the block.

3. Take your dog with you ;)

4. Do an online yoga class. You know you will feel better after anyway!

5. If you are a runner then go for a run-up and down the stairs or better yet go outdoors

6. Find something new to do that takes you out of the house, forest bathing in the wintertime is very nice!

7. Put on some great music and dance like nobody is watching, shake it off.

8. Do it anyway because you know how good you will feel after.

9. Remind yourself of the times that you couldn't work out...don't go back there again

10. Find yourself a great workout video on YouTube and turn it on and go

11. Put on your workout clothes and shoes. You would be surprised how that motivates us

There are so many things in life that we find excuses for not doing. Exercise is one of those. The only way to make it a habit is by doing it...consistently. Just get yourself moving even if it is light and easy to start. You don't have to be a powerhouse to reap the benefits of movement! You will feel great about yourself and stress less because exercise produces those feel-good hormones (endorphins) The first step is always the hardest. Stop thinking about it and just do it...remember the 5-second rule
