How Pendulums Assist in Healing

Working with a pendulum to balance one's chakra by picking up on subtle vibrations to clear the body and balance the mind and spirit. Dowsing is my way to use my pendulum as a method of gaining mental clarity on a question I have and spiritual/material guidance for Chakra Balancing sessions. Pendulums are often used as tools for spiritual healing and inner growth.

Pendulums are used as a form of reflection by asking questions to receive guidance, awareness and understanding according to the motion of the material. A pendulum can be a rock, crystal or even a nut that hangs on the end of a string or chain and is used as a way to gain insight into a spiritual or material question that you might be struggling with. Traditionally, pendulums or as sometimes referred to as dowsing tool and is used to locate hidden water, minerals, and other hidden objects beneath the ground.

How Does it Work?

Defined as objects attached at the end of a string or metal chain, when suspended from a stationary position, a pendulum will swing back and forth or in a circular motion

Using Your Pendulum

Learning to understand the directional swings of your pendulum is quite easy. The swing in vertical straight lines, horizontal straight lines, and circular movements. This can be done side-by-side, counter-clockwise, clockwise, back and forth and in an elliptical motion. Interestingly enough just like our chakras do. You can figure out what the directional swing means by first asking the pendulum to show you what certain responses look like. As an example, start by asking "Show me what No looks like?" or "What does YES look like?: I use the palm of my hand as positive, yes and the back of my hand as no but it is best if you figure this out ahead of time.

Prepare Your Questions Ahead of Time

A question should be one that can be answered with a positive, negative or neutral response. A good question example could be - Is this product ________ good for my body? An example of a poor question might be - Are the puppies going to be all white or a mixed colour? You get the idea. You might need to ask several questions to receive enough satisfactory information.

Tips When Using a Pendulum

1. Start by setting your intention.

2. You can use pendulum charts, or the palm of your hand to establish your own personal yay's and nay's by the direction its swing before proceeding with your questions.

3. Accepting information based on your instincts only.

4. Have a notebook to write down any questions or the use for the pendulums responses and don't forget the date. This is a fantastic way to journal your growth. After all, it is your pathway.

5. Make sure that your pendulum has been cleared of any negative energies before and after each use and that you intentionally brush off that negativity from your hands. I like to use a bit of lavender spray water of sage smoke, whatever I happen to have at the time.

Cleansing the Pendulum

You can clean your pendulum by holding it under cold running tap water, full moon cleansing or as simple as setting a mental intention to clear out any possible negative energies. Your cleansing method is your choice and you need to be aware of the type of materials used in your pendulum. Some stones like Amethyst can be cleansed in sea salt water while others such as Selenite and Flourite should not.

After cleansing the pendulum, carry it around with you to see how it feels. Experiment with it. A pendulum can feel like a personal pet after a while and you will find that you miss your pet when accidentally left at home.
