I am an Icelandic author of 11 books, all of which deal with one aspect of Icelandic culture or another.

For years I worked as a journalist and occasionally I still write for news outlets and magazines. I have published pieces in The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Globe and Mail, and many others in my erstwhile capacity as correspondent for the Associated Press. I have travelled widely and given talks on Iceland and Icelandic culture, and have been a frequent commentator about Iceland in the international media.

On my Substack "Letter from Iceland" I explore facets of Icelandic culture, including my current fascination: oppression of the Icelanders in centuries past and how this manifests in our society today.
