About this work

This ebook contains sheet music and tablature for solo ukelele of the four original arrangements of Salitrales no lloren (a digital album by Julián Rodríguez available on Spotify, YouTube, and other similar platforms) along with a brief biographical introduction to Cachilo Díaz, the composer of all the pieces, and notes about Argentine folk music. Audio tracks for all the arrangements performed by the author are also included.

“Julián Antonio Díaz (Salavina, 1905 - Santiago del Estero, 1967) is one of the main figures in the history of Argentine popular music. Known by his nickname “el Cachilo” (a colloquial name given in the Argentine north to some species of singing birds), Julián was an accomplished guitar player, a composer, and a teacher that left a lasting musical legacy, built in part alongside his brother, bandoneonist Benicio “Soco” Díaz. The Díaz brothers' style and their dozens of compositions became important contributions to the development of local folk music, and their name became practically a synonym of Santiago del Estero's musical tradition.”
- Julián Rodríguez
