In Eternal Judgement, Michael E.B. Maher presents the sixth foundational doctrine of Christ. He explains that although believers will not face condemnation (having passed from death to life), they will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account of their works. This judgment determines their eternal inheritance, rewards, and position in God’s kingdom—not their salvation.

Maher distinguishes between sins that are confessed and forgiven (blotted out) and unconfessed sins, which will be judged. Works done in the spirit (with pure motives to please God) receive rewards, while works done in the flesh (for human recognition) are burned up. Believers who practice unrepentant sin forfeit their inheritance and are called “least in the kingdom.” Ministers of the gospel face a stricter judgment, and disobedience to their calling can even endanger their salvation.

Unbelievers face the second resurrection and the great white throne judgment, resulting in varying degrees of eternal punishment in the lake of fire. Saints will participate in judging the world and angels. The book emphasizes that God’s judgment is just, thorough, and based on every thought, word, and deed. Maher urges believers to live holy, fruitful lives and to approach judgment with confidence, not shame.
