- Notes from the Artist: “The Music Lesson” was created for the 2003 Crystal Charity Ball datebook. The Old Red Courthouse in Dallas was a beneficiary for The 50th Anniversary Project – Crystal Charity Ball’s Children’s Learning Center in the Old Red Museum of Dallas County History and Culture. Using Norman Rockwell for inspiration, Gail wanted her photographs to tell a story similar to Rockwell's paintings. Gail was asked to submit 25 photographs that told the story of the Old Red Courthouse. Each photograph in the series is an individually built set, with unique props and costumes. Gail states, “This was a huge challenge. I did not have a clue on what to do. Once I went to the site, I remember getting off the elevator and asking the director ‘how do you expect me to sleep tonight?’ The old interior, the wide open spaces, the high arched windows, and 15-foot ceilings were a photographer's dream!"
