Cumulus Hat

This is a pattern that both knits up quickly and is great fun for using up some mini skeins as the pops of colour in this design!

Please note that the pattern uses Fingering Weight held double throughout - alternatively you can substitute for a single strand of DK or Worsted weight yarn if you prefer.

What you will need:

• Yarn – Total amount of 140g Fingering weight yarn (approx. 400m/437 yds per 100gm) held double or 140g Worsted weight Yarn (approx. 200m/220 yds per 100gm); In total you will need one full skein of your main colour and approximately 10gm of each of your contrasting colours.

Yarn used in the sample is by Knitting It Up Yarn on the Monkland base (85/15 Superwash Merino / Nylon) in the Chasing Pavements Colourway (1 full skein for the Main Colour) and Sookie, Melodrama, Royals and Lost Queen (10gm Mini skeins for the Contrast Colours).

Needles – 3.5mm (US4) & 4.5mm (US7) 16” circular for knitting in the round or a long cable for magic loop, & double pointed needles (DPNs) or magic loop for the crown decreases.

Notions

• 1 Stitch Marker for marking the beginning of the round & additional markers for crown decreases if you wish.
• A tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
• Gauge – Approximately 5.5 sts/inch in cluster pattern on larger needles.

• Baby - hat circumference approximately 40cm/16 in
• Toddler - hat circumference approximately 45cm/18 in
• Child - hat circumference approximately 48cm/19 in
• Adult S - hat circumference approximately 53cm/21 in
• Adult M - hat circumference approximately 58cm/23 in
• Adult L – to fit a head approximately 61cm/25 in around
