Losing your hair changes more than how you look. It changes how you recognise yourself.

Unrooted to Unbroken is a guided therapeutic journal for women living with alopecia. It was written for the mornings when the mirror is hard, and for the afternoons when nobody thinks to ask how you are really doing.

Across twelve chapters it moves gently from admitting the impact, identity loss and grief, through acceptance, self-compassion and courage, to the place where your own story becomes something you can offer to another woman standing where you once stood.

Each chapter opens with accessible science drawn from the research of James Pennebaker, Kristin Neff, Brene Brown and Bessel van der Kolk and then gives you reflective journalling prompts, with affirmations to carry into the day.

Nothing here is compulsory and nothing is timed. Take a chapter a week and finish in twelve weeks. Take a month with each and give yourself a year. The pace is yours, and it can change as you do.

Inside you will find:

- Twelve chapters tracing the emotional arc from loss to resilience

- Accessible science introducing the reasoning behind each stage

- Separate reading and journalling sections, so you can choose what you have capacity for

- Affirmations to return to on the harder days

- Room to record what shifts, in your own handwriting

This is not a book about growing your hair back. It is a book about feeling like yourself again.

The work continues beyond the pages at www.unrootedtounbroken.com, home of the Unrooted Circle, a membership offering online and live group support and a community of women walking the same road, plus there are in-person retreats on the Cornish coast and in Europe to follow.
