GRAMMATICAL DECEPTION – The Dead Ledger by Bro H
[Cold Open — surf, ship horn, ledger slammed shut] [BANKER — polished male voice, spoken] Your line of credit is approved. [MAN — gritty midrange voice, spoken] You drew the line and baited the hook. Who created the value? [Verse 1 — MAN, deliberate singing] A corporation is a vessel Though no timber forms its side; A fiction built of contracts Under laws that rule the tide. Its property becomes the cargo, Its officers become the crew, And the paper person made by law Is berthed aboard it too. On land, the accuser proves the charge; At sea, the accused must answer. The courtroom is the command deck, The judge presides as captain. The GOAT is the man-made sewer, A channel running under land, Through which the law belonging to the sea Is carried where the living stand. [Chorus — MAN with rough dockworkers] You put him on the dead ledger, Where the account is laid in stone. What lies flat is given no standing; What has no standing cannot own. You call the living man the debtor, Then make his labor pay the claim— The bank creates the dollar from thin air, But not the wealth required to settle it. [Verse 2 — MAN, clearly enunciated] A ledger is the merchant’s book Where debt and credit lie; A ledger is the stone upon a grave Beneath which dead men lie. Both meanings serve the system: An account laid flat and still; The manufactured person rests there While the living man pays the bill. The ledger comes inside an envelope, A presentment through the mail: A statement, charge, demand or notice Sent to the paper name in ALL CAPS. The line of credit is a fishing line Extended from the bank; The offer shining on the hook is bait, And debt is what you take. [Verse 3 — MAN, wider melody] A river does not get its water From the banks along its sides; The water flows from higher ground; The banks contain and guide. So the bank directs the currency, Controls the route and names the sum; But it did not make the substance From which payment has to come. It did not grow the wheat, cut timber, Quarry stone or build the home; It records figures as a loan, Then claims what living hands have made. The entry may be done in minutes; The borrower may labor thirty years. The dollar is a unit of account— A debt-denominated claim. [Verse 4 — MAN, darker and heavier] Mortgage joins two older meanings: Mort is dead and gage is pledge; A pledge is given as a surety, A hostage held against a debt. The house is living wood and labor, Built by hands upon the land; The mortgage is the dead claim Laid against the living man. Corporation comes through corpus; Corpus means a body in law. Corpse comes from that ancient root— But the living man is not the form. [Bridge — MAN, half-spoken testimony] A trust requires three positions: Creditor, administrator, debtor. The creditor supplies the substance; The debtor owes it to another. The administrator stands between them, Bound to manage, not to own— But deception moves the man below And leaves the creditor’s seat alone. The living man was given dominion; They joined him to the debtor’s fiction. The administrator took that chair: The owner became the surety. That conversion of dominion Is the perfect crime concealed. [Final Movement — machinery falls away] Two trees remain before you, And both invite the hand: The Tree of Life is living truth, Inheritance and land. The house of life is creditor, Rooted in Yahweh’s order; Its fruit gives life without a chain; Its fountain is the wisdom of God. The Tree of Knowledge offers profit— Legal title, debt and license. Its roots descend through ledger-graves; Its fruit conceals the serpent. It is the house of the debtor, The counterfeit life of Mammon— A promise polished like a blessing That makes a servant of the man. [Final Chorus — full ensemble, no acceleration] Life or death? Creditor or debtor? The house of the living Or the ledger of the dead? The Lord God or Mammon? Dominion or the chain? The bank creates the dollar from thin air, But not the wealth required to settle it. Know the office from the man, Know ownership from title, Know the bank from what it channels, Know real wealth from dollar debt. The remedy is not a secret phrase Spoken when the court convenes; It is knowledge gained before the snare— The power to tell the difference. [Outro — water recedes, ledger closes] [MAN — spoken with final authority] The bank wrote the account. It did not build the house. It did not work the land. Its ledger names a paper debtor— But that debtor is not the living man.
