Waltz Canon in D for Any Number (or Type) of Instruments

D Minor Waltz-Canon is, as it says on the tin, a canon; so, in the beginning, all of the usual roundish type behaviors should be followed:
A. The first person or group starts line 1 and plays to the end of that line and cycles back to line 2
B. As the first person or group starts line 2, the second person or group starts line 1; everyone plays to the end of their respective line and cycles back to the beginning of their next line
C. And so on, for as many persons or groups as want to play.
Now, once the canon has been established, here comes the fun part: Improvisation! Whether on Renaissance recorders or electric guitars (or any other type of capable of carrying the melody), have fun within the chord progression for as long as the ensemble desires! Of course, if performing, it is generally best if an “ok, this is the last time, folks” signal is determined in advance, so that things can be brought to a graceful conclusion!
