Reception Summer 2 UTW Planning – Go Getters! (5 Weeks)

A carefully sequenced 5-week Reception Understanding the World (UTW) planning document, designed to support children in exploring journeys, maps, oceans, pirates, habitats and different places around the world through meaningful, engaging and developmentally appropriate experiences.

Built around the exciting theme “Go Getters!”, this resource encourages children to become curious explorers as they investigate their local environment, learn about different places, develop map skills and begin to understand how people and environments can be similar and different.

Planning is structured around key enquiry questions:

History

• How did people travel in the past?

• What can stories teach us about pirates and explorers?

Geography

• How do we know where to go?

• Where in the world is the ocean?

• How are places around the world similar or different?
