Little Roots: 20-Minute Nature Mission
🌿 The 20-Minute Nature Mission
Sometimes the best learning happens when we simply slow down and look a little closer.
The 20-Minute Nature Mission is a FREE, low-prep outdoor learning activity designed to get kids observing, listening, investigating, and asking questions about the world right outside their door.
Instead of a traditional scavenger hunt, children will take on simple nature missions like listening quietly for 30 seconds, investigating a tiny patch of ground, following something moving in nature, searching for signs of animals, comparing colors, and finding one BIG question they want to investigate further.
🌱 Inside you'll find:
• Quick nature missions
• A Tiny World Investigation
• Nature Detective activities
• Sensory observation
• Drawing and recording opportunities
• A “Big Nature Question” to encourage curiosity beyond the activity
No complicated setup. No special supplies. No need to finish every activity.
Just grab a pencil, step outside, and give your child 20 minutes to wonder.
Recommended for approximately ages 4–10, with plenty of room to adapt for younger or older learners.
