This allows for financial flexibility while still valuing and respecting the work and energy it took to publish this pattern. The price shown on Ravelry is the “true” value of the pattern that best reflects the time, investment, and creativity of this design. If needed, you can purchase the pattern at a more accessible price point by using one of the coupon codes below at checkout. The prices indicate the amount you will pay, not the discount amount. Chasing Rivers was inspired by a picture of the Colorado River Delta, which no longer reaches the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, but branches out into the desert. This shawl uses unique increases to create branching cables much as the channels of the river delta reach out searching for the sea. You’ll find that while there are many cable stitches, the pattern is repetitive, easy to memorize, and an enjoyable knit. The size of the shawl can easily be made smaller or larger depending on your preference.

Blocked Measurements: 60” wide and 33”deep

Yarn: Approximately 830 yds (759 m) DK or 927 yds (847 m) of Sport weight yarn.

Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) for DK, US 5 (3.75 mm) for Sport, or size appropriate for your yarn to get gauge. I recommend using a circular needle with a 40” or longer cable.

Gauge: 19 sts and 27 rows in stockinette = 4x4” for both DK and Sport.

Notions: 2 stitch markers, cable needle, darning needle.

Special Skills:
The pattern includes an i-cord tab cast on, i-cord edging, and an i-cord bind off. I also recommend learning to work the cable stitches without a cable needle. Links to video tutorials are provided in the pattern.
