I grew up near the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and they still hold a special place in my heart. Every year, as we drove up the winding roads looking for the perfect picnic and camping spots, I would keep my eyes peeled on the tree line. It was a magical place where it snowed in July and mountain goats defied gravity. The harsh conditions meant the trees could no longer grow, but there was beauty in that barren landscape.
This two-color crescent shawl is worked from the bottom up. Like climbing the mountain, you work your way through the simple branches of the lace border to find the openness and beauty of the garter stitch body. Every row has fewer stitches, so this shawl will fly off your needles! It’s a great project for those who want to dip their toe into lace or try a new shawl shape. Choose a speckled skein to shine in the garter stitch section and pair it with a coordinating solid to make your lace pop.

NEEDLES
US 5 (3.75 mm) 32 in circular needle or size to obtain gauge.
A note on cord length: I had no problem knitting the large size on the 32 in cord though the sts were bunched up for the first few rows. You may want to have several cord sizes on hand and shorten your needles when fewer and fewer sts are on the needle.

Lace: 1 repeat (6 sts x 6 rows) = 2 x 1.5 in (5 x 4 cm)
