If you struggle with purling or don't like to do it, perhaps you haven't found the way that works best for you yet. There's always more than one way to do a thing in knitting, and knitters around the world have been purling in many different ways — one of which may be your new favorite.
In this class you'll learn the Norwegian purl, Russian/Eastern (combination) purling, and Portugese purling and have time to practice each. We'll also consider some of the common issues we have with standard purl techniques and some different ways to address them.
Supplies: Approximately 20 yards of smooth worsted-weight yarn in a solid light color and needles in a compatible size (usually US #7-9) suitable for working flat, plus needles in the next two sizes smaller.
Homework: Cast on 20 stitches flat and work two rows in garter stitch (knitting every row).
Level: Advanced Beginner and up. Students should know how to knit and purl.
Day and Time: Class takes place Wednesday, January 29, 2024 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm Pacific Time (5:30 pm Mountain/6:30 pm Central/7:30 pm Eastern) via Zoom.
You will receive an instruction sheet with Zoom access info immediately upon purchasing the class. If you don't see the download instructions in your email inbox, please check your spam filter and then reach out to me.
I'll be sending you a class handout via email a day or two before the class begins.
I record each virtual class session and make the recording available to registered participants for two weeks after the date of the class, so if something prevents you from attending, you will still have access to the class recording and all materials.
