What Is this eBook about?

Advaita Vedanta is a Non-dual Indian spiritual philosophy and has become a popular approach in the West to attaining Spiritual Awakening or Self-Realization.

One of the key reasons for its attractiveness in the West is that Advaita — notably in its modern Neoadvaita form — promises “instant awakening,” and moreover, “an effortless endeavor without scriptures, difficult concepts, methods, or techniques.”

In a society that wants things “fast and now” a stance like that is of course very appealing. Nevertheless, we need also recognize that “the fruit may fall suddenly,” but that “it needs time to ripen.”

Hence, in this book, we take a closer look at the actual concepts and tenets of Advaita Vedanta, a system that developed during more than 1,500 years, and which is deeply rooted in Hinduism and Vedanta philosophy.

All by all, we feel that a clear understanding of the traditional beliefs and practices of Advaita can support the spiritual aspirant in “proper ripening of the fruit,” so that it may not fall down prematurely.
