What Is This eBook About?
Advaita Vedanta is a nondual Indian philosophy and way of life, and — notably in its Neo-Advaita form — has become a popular approach in the West to attain spiritual awakening or self-realization.
One of the key reasons for its attractiveness in the West is that Neo-Advaita promises “instant awakening,” and moreover, “an effortless endeavor without scriptures, difficult concepts, methods, or techniques.”
In a society that wants things “fast and now,” such an approach is of course very appealing. Nevertheless, we need also recognize that “the fruit may fall suddenly,” but that “it needs time to ripen.”
Therefore, in this book, we take a closer look at the actual concepts and tenets of Advaita Vedanta, a system that developed during more than 1,500 years, and which is deeply rooted in Hinduism and Vedanta philosophy.
In fact, a clear understanding of the beliefs and practices behind Advaita can support the spiritual aspirant to speed up “proper ripening of the fruit,” so that it may not fall down prematurely.
